The Large Herbivore Working Group will be hosting it's inaugural conference focused on wild & semi-wild herbivores in Britain.

The inaugral Large Herbivore Working Group conference will be a day packed full of talks focused on both wild and semi-wild herbivores.

The day will be split into three sessions:

Session 1: practical learnings on wild herbivores including bison and elk

Session 2: practical learnings on semi-wild herbivores and their role in rewilding and nature restoration

Session 3: the future of our landscapes and the role of herbivores within it.

We will be welcoming speakers from across Britain as well as mainland Europe. This is an opportunity to learn from practical experiences and network with other practitioners in Britain.

Day 2 - Optional Field Visit – Wildwood Trust, 22 September 2026

Your conference ticket includes an optional second day field visit to Wildwood Trust in Kent, including access to the Blean Bison Project. The day will provide a unique opportunity to explore the practical realities of large herbivore reintroduction and management, with three themed walks and talks covering project development, free-roaming bison, monitoring, ecology, welfare and herd management. Delegates will meet the Bison Rangers, visit the Bison Project in person and have the opportunity to see Wildwood’s bison, elk and wild boar. Lunch and refreshments are included.
